Three Big West Golfers Finish in Top 25 as Stanford Regional Concludes

STANFORD, Calif. – Big West champion Cal Poly and Cal State Fullerton concluded play at the Stanford Regional of the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships on Wednesday, with the Mustangs and Titans taking ninth and 10th in the team standings, respectively. 

Cal Poly recorded their best day on the course on Wednesday with a team aggregate score of 9-over 293 to finish the 54-hole event at 885 and just one stroke shy from eighth place and No. 33 Arizona.  

Freshman Maddy Saysanasongkham closed with a 1-under 70 capped with a string of four straight birdies on the final four holes and a closing 30 on the last nine of the day to leap up 12 places into a tie for 24th. Sophomore teammate Nicole Koong was the team leader on the week, closing in a tie for 18th with a 2-over 215 for the Mustangs. 

At-large regional entrant Cal State Fullerton finished one spot back from Cal Poly in the team standings after a challenging day on the course with all five players shooing over par rounds. Even with the midweek challenges, Big West Golfer of the Year Davina Xanh finished the regional in the red thanks to Tuesday’s 8-under 63, closing in a tie for12th place with a three-round total of 1-under 212 to lead the Titans on the week. Xanh finished five strokes out of position to advance to nationals as an individual, and was tied with Kelsey Kim of Santa Clara as the next in line to earn the singular qualifying spot. 

The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional advance to compete at the national championships at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., from May 22-27 with the final three days of the championships televised live by the Golf Channel. 

Regional hosts and top-ranked Stanford ran away with the team title at 42-under 810 and will be joined at La Costa by Pepperdine (-4), Oregon State (+2), Arizona State (+4) and Missouri (+8). Also advancing is Emma Bunch of New Mexico State, who finished at 6-under 207, competing at the regional as an individual qualifier.
