Cal State Fullerton Eighth, Cal Poly Ninth to Open NCAA Women's Golf Regional Play

STANFORD, Calif. -- Big West champion Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton and conference individual winner Madison Le of Long Beach State took to Stanford Golf Course to open play in the regional round of the 2026 NCAA Women's Golf Championship on Monday.
 
The Titans finished the first round of three in eighth place, carding an aggregate score of 9-over 293 to open the postseason. The Mustangs are right behind in ninth place with a 12-over 296 aggregate score.
 
On the player leaderboard, Cal State Fullerton’s Zara Ali is tied for 10th at 1-under 70. Cal Poly’s Nicole Koong is tied for 16th with a par 71 score and teammate Maddy Saysanasongkham is tied for 24th at 1-over 72 to round out the top three individuals from The Big West. Le is tied for 56th place at 7-over 78.
 
The Titans enjoyed a stellar first half with five birdies for an aggregate score of 4-over 143. The Mustangs also had five birdies on the front-nine for an 8-over 147 aggregate score. On the back-nine, Cal State Fullerton shot a combined 5-over 150, while Cal Poly scored 4-over 149.
 
The top five teams and the low individual not on a qualifying team from each of six regionals across the country will advance to the NCAA Championships final site at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., May 22-27.
 
Tomorrow’s second round is slated to start for the Titans and Mustangs at 8:55 a.m. PT from Hole 1. Madison Le will begin at 9:50 a.m. PT. Fans can follow the live stats from Stanford here >>>
