The Big West Champion Cal Poly will be joined by Cal State Fullerton and individual medalist Madison Le of Long Beach State in regional action atfhe NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships. All of the league’s representatives will compete at the Stanford regional site at Stanford Golf Course from May 11-13.
Making a fourth regional appearance, Big West champion Cal Poly is the No. 10 seed and the league’s automatic qualifier in the field. Of Cal Poly’s three previous national postseason appearances, two of their three consecutive from 2021-23 were at Stanford (2021, ’22).
The Mustangs earned their place in the field after a six-stroke win at the Royal Course at Ka’anapali on Maui a week ago with Sarah Yoo and Nicole Koong leading the way with top five finishes in the field. Koong, a sophomore from Sammamish, Wash., was recently honored as an All-Big West first team selection. Fellow underclassmen Elina Kuang also picked up second-team honors for the Mustangs.
Last season’s league victor and national championship participant Cal State Fullerton earned an at-large selection to the regional field, also placed in the Stanford regional. The 43rd-ranked Titans are led by a trio of All-Big West seniors in 2024 and ’26 Big West Golfer of the Year Davina Xanh, 2025 Golfer of the Year Kaitlyn Zermeno Smith and Kathi Zeilinger. This marks a second regional appearance for Cal State Fullerton, in back-to-back fashion.
Top-seeded Stanford hosts the region as the automatic qualifier from the ACC, with No. 2 seed Pepperdine, No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 4 Arizona State, No. 5 Missouri, No. 6 Arizona, No. 7 Cal State Fullerton, No. 8 Illinois, No. 9 Oregon State, No. 10 Cal Poly, No. 11 South Dakota State and No. 12 Navy completing the 12-team field.
Five of the 12 teams are automatic qualifiers of their respective leagues. Along with Stanford and Cal Poly, the Waves (WCC), Jackrabbits (Summit) and Midshipmen (Patriot) all earned automatic selection after winning their conference championship.
Joining the 10 team participants from The Big West on the course, individual medalist Madison Le of Long Beach State was also slotted to compete at Stanford.
Le, a senior from Garden Grove, Calif., claimed individual medalist honors at the 2026 Big West Women’s Golf Championship in wire-to-wire fashion, punctuated by a first-round 63, a Long Beach State school record. Le closed the 54-hole event with a 9-under 208, one stroke shy of The Big West championship low.
Le is seeded as the sixth individual and joins Emma Bunch of New Mexico State, the Mountain West qualifier Leia Chung of Boise State, Santa Clara’s Kelsey Kim, Adora Liu of California and San Francisco’s Eva Pett.
One of six regional sites across the country, 396 participants featuring 12 teams and six individuals at each location will see 54 holes of stroke play. The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional will advance to compete at the national championships at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., from May 22-27 with the final three days of the championships televised live by the Golf Channel.
