Powered by a strong day of 8-under 63 by Cal State Fullerton’s Davina Xanh, the Titans jumped up one place to a tie for seventh at the Stanford Regional in the second day of action from the course.
Xanh, The Big West’s Golfer of the Year, carded the bogey-free round with five birdies on the back nine, including four straight after the turn to improve 31 places on the individual leaderboard to land in a tie for fourth at 6-under 136 through 36 holes of action. Xanh leads the regional field with 11 total birdies.
Also making a move up the standings on Tuesday was Kaitlyn Zermeno Smith, who used a 2-over 73 to climb nine places to a tie for 41st alongside teammate Zara Ali. Kathi Zeilinger is right behind in a grouping in 45th at 8-over for the event.
The Titans are knotted with Illinois at a two-day total team score of 16-over 584, giving chase to reach the top five to advance to the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf National Championship field. Currently, they sit 12 strokes out of qualifying position.
Along with the top five teams, the low individual not on a qualifying team also advances to the final site. Currently, that place belongs to individual qualifier Emma Bunch of New Mexico State, who leads the regional at 9-under 133, but Xanh is within striking distance.
Big West champion Cal Poly finished the day in 10th place after a second straight team score of 12-over 296. The Mustangs’ low individual is Nicole Koong, whose 1-under 70 on Tuesday was paired with Monday’s even-par outing to result in a tie for 16th. Sitting at 5-over 137 in a tie for 36th for Cal Poly is Maddy Saysanasongkham.
Finally, The Big West’s individual medalist Madison Le of Long Beach State was forced to withdraw from the second round, recording no score. Le is now ineligible to advance to the NCAA Championship rounds, but will have the opportunity to finish out the regional’s final round on Wednesday, health permitting.
The Titans will be paired with Illinois and Arizona for the final 18, going off Hole 1 beginning at 8:55 a.m., with Cal Poly set to start at the same time from Hole 10. The Mustangs will play the round with South Dakota State and Navy. Le, is paired with Leia Chung of Boise State and California’s Adora Liu for a 9:50 a.m. start from the 10th hole.
