 Hawai'i is set to host the 2025 Big West Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships, Friday, Oct. 31. Nine men’s teams and 11 women’s teams from The Big West will converge on Queen Kapi'olani Regional Park. The men’s 8K race is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. HT/10:30 a.m. PT, followed by the women’s 6K at 8:30 a.m. HT/11:30 a.m. PT. The awards ceremony will follow the women's race.
 
 Cal Poly is the highest ranked men's team according to USTFCCCA. The Mustangs have hoisted the hardware 20 times (most recently in 2024).
 
 Individually, some names to keep an eye on are:
 - Muhammed Ahmed (UCD) - 8th in 2024, 2024 10K runner-up
 - Ethan Brooks (UCD) - 4th in 2024
 - Rory Catsimanes (CP) - 6th in 2024
 - Chris Caudillo (CP) - 2nd in 2024, 2024 5K runner-up]
 - Michael Chambers (CP) - 10th in 2024, 2024 5K and 3K steeplechase champion
 - Zachary Parker (UCSB) - 6th in 2021
 - Spencer Pickren (CP) - 6th in 2023
 
 Cal Poly is the favorite on the women's side being the highest ranked team according to USTFCCCA. The Mustangs have hoisted the hardware 10 times (most recently in 2024).

 - Tatiana Cornejo (CP) - 7th in 2023, 5th in 2024, 2024 800m & 1500m champion, 2025 1500m champion
 - Maddie Kackley (UCD) - 3rd in 2024, 2024 1500m runner-up
 - Lucy Milliner (UH) - 9th in 2024
 - Sylvana Northrop (UCSD) - 6th in 2024
 
 The Big West in West Region Rankings
 Two Big West men’s teams in No. 7 Cal Poly and No. 8 UC Davis are ranked in the latest iteration of the USTFCCCA regional rankings. The women’s regional rankings features four Big West squads in Cal Poly (9), UC San Diego (12), UC Irvine (14) and UC Santa Barbara (15).
 
 2024 Rewind
 For the third year in a row, Cal Poly swept both the men’s and women’s team titles at the 2024 Big West Cross Country Championships, hosted by UC Riverside at its Ag/Ops Course.
 
 In the men’s 8K, Cal Poly’s Davis Bove crossed the finish line in 23:51.3 to take the individual crown for the second consecutive season.Cal Poly took its record 20th team title with all five scorers in the top 10, dominating the competition with a mere 22 points. Chris Caudillo (23:54.7), Colton Swinth (23:55.9), Rory Catsimanes (23:59.8) and Michael Chambers (24:02.4) went 2-3-6-10 for the Mustangs. Cal State Fullerton was second with 73 points and UC Davis was third with 82 points.
 
 Cal Poly’s Schuyler Gooley won the women’s 6K with a time of 19:47.7. Cal Poly won its 10th team crown on the women’s side with all five scorers in the top 12. Tatiana Cornejo (19:57.4), Hana Catsimanes (20:16.9) and Sophia Nordenholz (20:21.5) and Kelli Gaffney(20:35.8) went 5-7-8-12, to round out the scorers for the Mustangs. UC Davis was second with 70 points and UC Irvine was third with 96 points.
 
 At the end of the season, Bove was named Big West Men's Athlete of the Year, while Gooley won Women's Athlete of the Year. The Men’s Coach of the Year went to Ryan Vanhoy of Cal Poly, while the top coaching honor on the women’s side was given to Cal Poly’s Michelle Chewens.
