COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Cal Poly junior Kelli Gaffney represented The Big West at the 2025 NCAA Women’s and Men’s Cross Country Championships. The apex meet of the 2025 cross country season was held Saturday morning, hosted by Missouri at its Gans Creek Cross Country Course.

The field for each side was made up of 31 teams, consisting of 18 automatic qualifiers from nine regionals (two each) and 13 at-large selections. The top four individual finishers at each regional meet not on national-qualifying teams earned tickets to nationals. Gaffney qualified and raced as an individual, and did not factor into the team scoring.

Gaffney placed 177th out of 261 runners in the women’s 6-kilometer race with a time of 20:25.8. Alabama’s Doris Lemngole took home the individual title in 18:25.4. NC State won the team title with 114 points. Gaffney was the ninth women’s runner in Cal Poly cross country history to run in the national meet.
