The Big West Well Represented at FINA World Aquatics Championship

FUKUOKA, Japan -- The Big West will be well represented at the upcoming 2023 FINA World Aquatics Championships, held July 14-30 in Fukuoka, Japan, as 11 current or former women's water polo student-athletes and one assistant coach from the conference are set to compete. 

Tara Prentice (UC Irvine '22) will represent the United States for the second time at the international stage. The 2022 Big West Player of the Year helped Team USA to the gold medal in last year's edition of the competition. Also on Team USA will be current Long Beach State assistant coach Rachel Fattal. 

Ten other athletes with Big West ties will compete at the 2023 Fina World Championships. Hawai'i has five current or former student-athletes suiting up in Bernie Doyle (New Zealand), Libby Gault (New Zealand), Maartje Keuning (Netherlands), Camille Radosavljevic (France) and Maxine Schaap (Netherlands). Long Beach State has one current student-athlete in Jamie Oberman (Australia) and three alums in Orsi Hertzka (France), Marilia Mimides (Canada) and Isabel Riley (Argentina) set to compete.
