BUDAPEST, Hungary -- UC Irvine women’s water polo alumnus Tara Prentice and Team USA took home the gold medal at the 2022 FINA World Championships.
Prentice wrapped up her final collegiate season in 2022. She earned numerous accolades including All-America First Team and The Big West Player of the Year.
Prentice participated in every match at the World Championships, averaging over 11 minutes of playing time per game. She compiled five goals, five steals, and one field block in the tournament.
Prentice was one of nine athletes with Big West ties competing at the 2022 Fina World Championships. Hawai'i had seven current or former student-athletes competing in Bridget Layburn (New Zealand), Libby Gault (New Zealand), Morgan McDowall (New Zealand), Bernie Doyle (New Zealand), Camille Radosavljevic (France), Maxine Schaap (Netherlands) and Irene Gonzalez Lopez (Spain). Long Beach State alum Isabel Riley represented Argentina.
