Ryan Gregory placed fourth in the decathlon and Cal Poly’s
Lexi Evans took seventh in the women’s pole vault to highlight The Big West’s performance at the second day of the 2026 NCAA Track & Field Championships, Thursday at Oregon’s Hayward Field.
Gregory finished the event with a total of 8001 points and will earn All-America First Team status by finishing in the top eight. Cal State Fullerton’s
Keith Orona was 17th with 6668 points.
Both athletes improved on their day one positions as Gregory came into Thursday in 10th with 4007 points and Orona in 19th with 3819 points.
Gregory compiled 3994 points in five events with 917 points (14.45) in the 110m hurdles, 726 points (43.02m/141’2”) in the discus, 852 points (4.81m/15’9.25”) in the pole vault, 678 points (55.98m/183’8”) in the javelin and 821 points (4:18.57) in the 1500m. Orona scored 3451 points on the day with 795 points (15.46) in the 110m hurdles, 706 points (42.01m/137’10”) in the discus throw, 705 points (4.31m/14’1.75”) in the pole vault, 643 points (53.66m/176’0”) in the javelin and 602 points (4:52.85) in the 1500m.
In the women’s pole vault, Cal Poly’s Lexi Evans cleared a personal-best height of 4.49m/14’8.75” to set a new Big West record. The Mustang senior cleared the first three progressions of 4.24m/13’11”, 4.39m/14’4.75” and 14.49m/14’8.75” on the first attempt.
