  • Cal Poly's Chris Caudillo broke the conference 1500m record at the Franson Last Chance Meet to earn The Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week award. It is Caudillo's first career track weekly honor.

  • The junior shattered a 48-year-old Big West record in the men's 1,500-meter, running a lifetime best of 3:35.13 to surpass Steve Scott's 1978 mark in the event. The time is the third fastest ran in the West Region this season and No. 8 in Division I and 25th fastest ran in collegiate history.

Javier Toro, Cal State Bakersfield | Senior • San Joaquin, Calif.

  • Cal State Bakersfield's Javier Toro was first amongst collegiate athletes in the hammer throw competition at the Titan Tune-Up to claim The Big West Field Athlete of the Week honor. It is Toro's second career weekly honor, having won it once last season.

  • The San Joaquin, Calif. native earned a massive personal best with a mark of 65.76m/215'9" for third overall, but first amongst collegiate athletes.

  • Toro now holds the second best mark in program history and is ranked second in the event in the conference.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Jordan Jackson, Cal Poly | Junior • Las Vegas, Nev.

  • Cal Poly's Jordan Jackson came near a personal best in the 800m at the Franson Last Chance Meet to take home the Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Week recognition. It is Jackson's first career weekly honor.

  • The Las Vegas, Nev. native posted a time of 2:08.91 in the two-lap race to finish 15th overall at the meet. Jackson was just .39 seconds off her personal best in the event.

Also nominated: Kendall Dorton (UC Riverside), Starla Skiles (Cal State Fullerton).

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Katherine Shipp-Davis, CSUN | Senior • Lake Elsinore, Calif.

  • CSUN's Katherin Shipp-Davis won the discus and was runner-up in the lshot put at the Titan Tune-Up to collect the Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Week accolade. It is the first career weekly honor for Shipp-Davis.

  • The senior finished first in the discus with her toss of 53.06m.

  • The Lake Elsinore, Calif. product came away with second place in the shot put with a mark of 14.05m.

  • In The Big West, Shipp-Davis is currently second in the discus (53.66m) and fifth in the shot put (14.91m).
