Cal Poly's Chase Walter placed second in the 400m and helped the Mustang 4x400m relay team to a win at the Stanford Invitational to earn The Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week award. It is Walter's first career weekly honor. The graduate student clocked a personal-best time of 46.07 over a lap on the track. The time ranks first in The Big West, 10th in the region and 19th in the nation. Walter also ran the second leg (45.8 split) on Cal Poly's first place 4x400 relay which posted the third fastest time in school history (3:09.06). Men's Field Athlete of the Week Liam Miksic, UC Irvine | Senior • Spring Lake, N.J. UC Irvine's Liam Miksic came in second in the javelin throw at the Triton Invitational to claim The Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor. It is Miksic's first career weekly honor. Miksic was the top collegiate finisher, second overall, in the javelin at the Triton Invitational with a seasonal-best 67.51m/221'6". The mark ranks second in The Big West, 15th in the West Region and 31st in all of NCAA Division I. Women's Track Athlete of the Week Tatiana Cornejo, Cal Poly | Junior • Elk Grove, Calif. Cal Poly's Tatiana Cornejo placed third in section two of the 5000m competition at the Stanford Invitational to claim The Big West Women's Track of the Week award. It is Cornejo's second career weekly honor from the conference in track & field, having won it once last season. The junior ran a personal-best time of 15:44.49 over 12.5 laps to break the school record. The time ranks first in The Big West, No. 14 in the West Region and No. 19 in the nation. Women's Field Athlete of the Week Tara Wyllie, Hawai'i | Junior • Canberra, Australia Tara Wyllie of Hawai'i finished fourth in the triple jump and 10th in the 100m hurdles at the Stanford Invitational to earn The Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Week award. It is Wyllie's second career weekly honor from the conference, having won it once last season. The Canberra, Australia product recorded a mark of 12.93m/42'5.25" in the triple jump for fourth place. The mark ranks No. 1 in The Big West, 16th in the region and 26th in the nation. Wyllie also competed in the 100m hurdles, coming in 10th place with a time of 14.53.
