Cal Poly's Vincent Atilano ran a lifetime best in the 400m at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational to earn The Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week award. It is the Atilano's first career weekly honor. Atilano ran a personal record of 46.95 over 400m to take first place. It is the 10th fastest time in school history and ranks sixth in the conference this season. Also Nominated: Finn Andrews (UC Santa Barbara), Joey Nations (CSUN). Men's Field Athlete of the Week Rory Deaney, Cal Poly | Junior • San Luis Obispo, Calif. Cal Poly's Rory Devaney won the hammer throw competition at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational to claim The Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor. It is the junior's fourth career weekly honor, having won the award once last season season and twice in 2023. Devaney hit a mark of 69.15m/226'10", just one inch shy of a personal record that ranks No. 3 in Big West, No. 8 in the West Region and No. 13 in Division I. Women's Track Athlete of the Week Mia Shepard, UC Sanat Barbara | Freshman • Honolulu, Hawai'i UC Santa Barbara's Mia Shepard won the 200m and 400m at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational to claim The Big West Women's Track of the Week award. It is the the freshman's second career weekly honor, having won it once earlier this season. Shepard won the 400m with a personal-record time of 53.52. The Honolulu native ran 24.26 in -1.0 wind to take first place in the 200m. Also Nominated: Jordan Jackson (Cal Poly), Makiah Parker (Cal State Bakersfield), Saniyah Starks (UC Riverside). Women's Field Athlete of the Week Chelsea Aninyei, UC Riverside | Redshirt Sophomore • Bellflower, Calif. UC Riverside's Chelsea Aninyei placed first in the long jump and high jump at the Chris Rinne Inviational to earn The Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Week award. It is the Bellflower, Calif. product's first career weekly honor. Aninyei established a new lifetime best in the long jump with a mark of 5.99m/19'8" to win the event. The redshirt sophomore won the high jump with a clearance of 1.62m/5'3.75". Aninyei was the runner-up in the triple jump with a 12.35m/40'6.25" effort.
