Long Beach State's Tristyn Flores won three events at the Challenge Cup to earn The Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week award. It is Flores' first career weekly honor. The junior won the 100m race in 10.26 and the 200m event in 20.98. Flores ran the third leg of the 4x100m relay that clocked 40.34 for the victory. With the Fontana, Calif. native's efforts, Long Beach State won the Challenge Cup team title. Men's Field Athlete of the Week Canaan Wharry, Long Beach State | Senior • Marysville, Calif. Long Beach State's Canaan Wharry won one event and placed third in another to claim The Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor. It is Wharry's first career weekly honor from the conference. The senior claimed a victory in the discus throw with a mark of 56.11m/184'1". Wharry then threw a lifetime best in the hammer throw with a distance of 58.55m/192'1" to place third. Women's Track Athlete of the Week Sofia Lavreshina, Long Beach State | Senior • Pombal, Portugal Long Beach State's Sofia Lavreshina had two individual victories at the Challenge Cup to claim The Big West Women's Track of the Week award. It is Lavreshina's first career weekly honor from the conference. The senior won the 200m (24.43) and 400m (54.59) events. Lavreshina was also a member of the 4x400m relay (3:45.97) and 4x100m relay (46.86) squads that placed second and third, respectively. Women's Field Athlete of the Week Kailah McKenzie, UC Irvine | Sophomore • Moreno Valley, Calif. UC Irvine's Kailah McKenzie won the long jump event at the Challenge Cup to earn The Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Week award. It is McKenzie's third career weekly honor from the conference, having won the award last week and once last season. McKenzie recorded a personal-best 6.33m/20'9.25" to win the long jump event.
