UC San Diego's Anthony Flowers helped break two school records at the Ben Brown Invitational to earn The Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week award. It is Flowers' second career weekly honor from the conference, having won it once last season. The sophomore rewrote UC San Diego's 200m record with a time of 20.99. Flowers was also part of the 4x100m relay team that won the event, setting a new school record of 40.57 in the process. That 4x100m time is the second best in The Big West this season. The San Diego, Calif. native was also fourth in the 100m with a 10.41 effort. Men's Field Athlete of the Week Kyle Jankans, Long Beach State | Sophomore • Anaheim, Calif. Long Beach State's Kyle Jankans won the high jump event at the Beach Opener to claim The Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor. It is Jankans' first career weekly honor from the conference. The sophomore leaped to a personal best by 1.25 inches, clearing 2.21m (7'3") in the high jump for the win. The performance ranks No. 2 in school history behind former World Record holder and Olympic Bronze Medalist Dwight Stones. Women's Track Athlete of the Week Sylvana Northrop, UC San Diego | Senior • Cupertino, Calif. UC San Diego's Sylvana Northrop broke a school record in the 5000m at the Ben Brown Invitational to claim The Big West Women's Track of the Week award. It is Northrop's first career weekly honor from the conference in track & field. The senior covered 5000m in 16:34.78, besting the previous mark by over 20 seconds, and placed third overall. Women's Field Athlete of the Week Kailah McKenzie, UC Irvine | Sophomore • Moreno Valley, Calif. UC Irvine's Kailah McKenzie won the high jump event at the Beach Opener to earn The Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Week award. It is McKenzie's second career weekly honor from the conference, having won the award once last season. McKenzie cleared 1.76m/5'9.25" in the high jump for the win. The height is just a half inch shy of a personal record and is the best in all of NCAA Division I so far this season. Johnson also placed fourth in the long jump with a 6.10m/20'0.25" effort.
