Big West Academic All-Americans History

Lilian Turban, a junior at Hawai'i, was named to the 2023-24 Academic All-America Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field First Team for NCAA Division I, as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), on Tuesday.
Turban is one of 21 members of the second team and 47 total Division I Academic All-Americans. The third-year Rainbow Wahine is the first Academic All-American from The Big West in the 2023-24 school year.
Turban has a 3.99 grade-point average as a junior majoring in communications. On the field of competition, the Estonia native placed 10th in the high jump with a clearance of 1.85m/6'0.75" in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships and was subsequently named an All-American by USTFCCCA. Turban competed in one outdoor meet before sitting out the rest of the season with injury.
Turban is the ninth Rainbow Wahine overall to be honored as an Academic All-American since Hawai'i rejoined The Big West in 2012. The last Big West Academic All-American for women's cross country/track & field was Emily Hallett of Cal Poly in 2022.
Student-athletes must be in at least their second season, hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and be an important contributor athletically to be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-District and All-America recognition.
