Round 2 Pairings

UC Irvine headed into the clubhouse with the lead after day one of the Big West Women's Golf Championship, narrowly holding an edge over Cal Poly.

The Anteater quintet shot 282 for the day at Yorba Linda Country Club, an impressive 6-under to kick off the Championship. UCI was led by Megan Yang, who carded a 7-under 65 for low round honors among all individuals. Yang, the only golfer to shoot under 70 on the day, had an impressive back nine as she shot 7-under, registering seven of her eight birdies on the back nine. UC Irvine also had Sienna Lyford (-1) and Maddie Riggs (E) turn in solid performances to take the early lead.

Cal Poly finds itself in prime position to challenge as the squad shot 284 for a combined 4-under. The Mustangs saw Nicole Neale and Caroline Cantlay each shoot 2-under 70s and got even par efforts from Elizabeth Scholtes and Vanessa Wang.

Long Beach State finds itself in third after shooting a combined 3-over 291. Holland Shourds led the way for the Beach as she carded a 2-under 70, the lone player on the squad to finish the 18 holes under par. Her teammates all finished in a bunch as Hunter Pate shot 73 (+1), Angelina Kim and Chloe Carraway shot 74 (+2) and Vanessa Richani shot 75 (+3).

UC Davis ended the first day in fourth at +7 (295), with Hawai'i in fifth at +11 (299). Sixth place is Cal State Fullerton at +13 (301), UC Riverside is at +15 for seventh place, while CSUN at +19 (307) and CSU Bakersfield +26 (314) wrap up the team standings.

Individually, Yang holds the five shot lead over Shourds, Neale and Cantlay, with Hawai'i's Monica Johnson and Lyford each finishing at 1-under. Sholtes, Wang and Riggs were joined at even par by UC Davis' Jackie Lucena and the Cal State Fullerton duo of Haruka Koda and Brittany Shin.

Round two tees off at 7:30 am PT Tuesday as the teams re-seed for groupings. UC Riverside, CSUN and CSU Bakersfield will go first, followed by UC Davis, Hawai'i and Cal State Fullerton starting at 8:20 am PT. The top three of UC Irvine, Cal Poly and Long Beach State will then tee off at 9:10 am PT.
