On This Day: Women's Golf

The Big West Conference has highlighted a few special moments in women's golf postseason history.

April 20, 2004 - CSUNs Beth Allen fired a three-round score of 209 to claim back-to-back Big West Conference individual medalist honors. In 2003 she won her first title after carding 142 in a rain-shortened event. Allen is the last women’s golf player to earn back-to-back accolades.

April 21, 2015 - After firing a final round score of 289, for a three-day total of 858, the UC Davis women’s golf team collected its sixth straight Big West Women’s Golf Championship at the El Macero Country Club. The Aggies, who placed four players in the top five of the leaderboard, led the entire tournament and finished with a 29-stroke lead over second place Hawai’i, who tallied 887.

May 4, 2010 - UC Irvine received an at-large invitation to the NCAA West Regional for its school-best sixth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

• May 7, 2016 - UC Davis’ Andrea Wong blasted a three-round score of 209 (72-72-65) to win individual medalist honors at the NCAA Palo Alto Regional, which was played on the Stanford Golf Course. Wong is the only Big West women’s golfer to earn the distinction in an NCAA competition.

• May 8, 2017 - Under the helm of Head Coach Sofie Aagaard, the Cal Poly women’s golf program teed off at its first-ever NCAA Regional appearance (UNM Championship Course) in the 17-year history of the program.
