BIG WEST AT A GLANCE
LBSU PERFECT THROUGH TWO
The now No. 17 Long Beach State 49ers are 2-0 in conference play to sit in the No. 1 spot in league with Hawai‘i, the defending Big West Tournament champion. The last time LBSU opened conference action with a win was in 2009 when the Beach defeated Pacific 10-4. This is the first time the 49ers have started the league portion of the schedule unbeaten through two games. The Beach is 5-1 at home and will play its lone non-conference matchup this week at home
HAWAI‘I REMAINS UNTOUCHED
In addition to LBSU’s perfect mark in league, Hawai‘i opened conference play unbeaten through two games and looks to continue the streak this weekend versys No. 25 CSUN and No. 14 UC Santa Barbara on the road. Last season the Rainbow Wahine dropped two contests in league, one to UC Irvine (8-9) and the second to Long Beach State (3-4). UH suffered both losses in OT.
IRVINE LOOKS TO DEFEND
Defending regular season champion, UC Irvine, looks to defend its title as the ’Eaters currently sit in third at 2-1.
