Spearheaded by Beverly Vatanunugulkit's 3-under-par 69 during the first round of the NCAA Central Regional at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla., the 16th-ranked UC Davis Aggies are tied for fifth.

Competing in its fourth straight NCAA Regional, UC Davis opened the 24-team regional carding a 3-over 281. Ninth-ranked Florida is six under and leads host Oklahoma by a shot.

Big West Women's Golf Freshman of the Year Andrea Wong and teammate Betty Chen each posted 73's on Thursday while seniors Demi Runas and Amy Simanton shot 76.

UC Irvine's Luciana Lee and Michelle Park are competing as individuals at the NCAA West Regional at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif., after receiving at-large bids into the tournament.  Lee is currently tied for 36th after registering a 2-over 74 and Park is knotted in 77th with a first-round score 78.

Seventy-two teams and 18 individuals were selected for regional competition at three sites, which includes the east regional at Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala.  Eight teams and two individuals from each regional move on to the national finals which are scheduled for May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
