Big West Men's Golf Tee Off NCAA Regional Competition

This year’s Big West Men’s Golf Champions will return to their second straight year of postseason play as the 13-seeded Aggies compete at the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Regional May 17-19 at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif.

UC Davis earned the automatic bid after beating out Long Beach State for the title by a one-stroke advantage, and their second consecutive Big West Title and Regional appearance.

Also appearing at the Stanford Regional is individual Big West Men’s Golf Championship winner, Alex Edfort of Pacific, along with UC Irvine’s Allan Jun.  Both have been chosen to be a part of the 10 individuals that are invited to Regionals alongside the 13 teams. 

Runner-up at the Big West Championship, Long Beach State will be taking part in the postseason show in the Athens Regional as an at-large No. 7 seed.  The 49ers will compete at the University of Georgia Golf Course hosted by The University of Georgia May 17-19.   This is Long Beach’s third appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first since 2004. 

Cal State Northridge’s Chris Russo was one of five individuals selected to compete at in the Greensboro Regional at Grandover Resort’s East Course in Greensboro, North Carolina on May 17-19.  This is Russo’s first appearance in postseason play after finishing ninth at the Big West Championship, including the second player in Matador history to advance to the NCAA Championships since Northridge moved to Division I level in 1991.

The top five teams and one individual will advance to the 115th NCAA Championships May 29-June 3 at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
