Alejandro de Castro Piera Named Honorable Mention All-American

Long Beach State senior and Big West Golfer of the Year Alejandro de Castro Piera was named to the 2026 NCAA Division I PING All-America Honorable Mention team, announced today by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Ranked as high as No. 26 in the Clippd listings this season, de Castro Piera finished the season with a 69.1 strokes per round adjusted average, nine top 10 finishes, five top three results and a victory at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate in March. The senior from Sant Esteve Sesrovires, Spain, took fourth at The Big West Championship as the Beach captured a fourth consecutive title and place in the NCAA Regional field. The result for de Castro Piera capped a string of seven consecutive top 10 finishes that spanned the entirety of the spring and stretched back to October.

In the national postseason, de Castro Piera finished in a tie for 34th at the Columbus Regional where LBSU landed in seventh in the team standings, narrowly missing a team trip to the Championships.

The senior's selection marks the second season in a row that Long Beach State has had an All-American, as Charlie Forster earned the honor last season. The Beach has had three All-Americans in the last four years, the first three for the program since 1983.
