The Anteaters had an even-par score of 288 Friday for a 36-hole total of 1-over par 587. to tie Nevada. UCLA tops the field at 541, while South Carolina (542) is second and USC and Arizona State are tied for third at 550.
Senior Jay Choe fired a 69 on Friday for a two-round total of 5-under 139 on the par-72, 7,057-yard course. He is tied for 40th place. Senior Brian Edick is 84th at 145 after a 74 while freshman John Chin is 103rd at 147. Sophomore Tim Cha carded a 72 and is now in 108th place at 148. Sophomore Sean Shahi (75) is in 112th at 149.
Cal Poly freshman Geoff Gonzalez and Pacific senior Thomas Petersson, competing as individuals, continued West Regional play Friday. Petersson followed up his 71 Thursday with another 71 Friday, sitting in a tie for 61st place at 2-under 142. Gonzalez is in a tie for 84th place after shooting a 72 Friday. He owns a score of 1-over par 145 for the tournament.
Eighteen more holes of golf will be played Saturday. The top 10 teams and two individuals not on advancing teams advance to the NCAA Championships May 30-June 2 in Williamsburg, Va.
