UC Irvine Moves Into Fourth Place At NCAA West Regional

The UC Irvine women's golf team moved up one spot to fourth place at the NCAA West Regional at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club Friday. The Anteaters carded a 302 and own a two-round total of 29-over 597.

Oklahoma State is the team leader at 13-over 581, while Stanford sits six shots back in second at 587. Arizona State is third at 22-over 590. The Anteaters, which shot 295 in Thursday's first round, own a three-shot lead over fifth place Pepperdine and have a five-stroke advantage on host Brigham Young.

Junior Kim Lorenzana fired a 73 for the best round of any UCI golfer Friday. She is tied for 14th place with a two-round total of 5-over 147. Freshman Patty Chawalitmetha followed up her first round 72 with a second round 78, tied for 28th place at 8-over 150. Junior Jane Chin also is tied for 28th place after carding a second round 74. Junior Selanee' Henderson had a rough second round, shooting an 80 and is tied for 43rd place at 11-over 153. Freshman Henna Cho is tied for 48th place at 154.

Long Beach State junior Kay Hoey, competing as an individual, improved upon her first round 77 and shot a 73 to move into a tie with UCI's Chawalitmetha and Chin on the individual leaderboard.

The tournament concludes on Saturday with 18 holes.
