In front of a record crowd of 3,176 at Anteater Ballpark, the Cal State Fullerton Titans emerged with a 12-5 victory over UC Irvine on Friday night, April 4. In the first meeting between the teams since Titan head coach Dave Serrano left
Irvine
last fall, the Titans exploded for five runs in the seventh inning, breaking open the ballgame after the Anteaters had just climbed back in the game with three runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth. It was a big victory for the Titans and an emotional loss for the ‘Eaters.
Following the game, Coach Serrano spoke with BigWest.TV about returning to face the program he helped propel to new heights, as well as what the victory means for his new team. Cal State Fullerton junior OF Erik Komatsu, who went 4-4 while scoring three runs and driving in two, talks about the team’s approach to game, while UC Irvine players Aaron Lowenstein and Ollie Linton give their account of the evening.
