UC Santa Barbara junior right-handed pitcher Tyler Bremner was selected with the second overall pick by the Los Angeles Angels in the 2025 MLB Draft, Sunday afternoon. The draft is being held at Coca-Cola Roxy in Cumberland, Ga.

Bremner is the highest Big West alum to get selected since Cal State Fullerton’s Adam Johnson also went second overall in the 2000 iteration of the draft. The three-year Gaucho was honored as an All-Big West and All-American honoree twice, going 11-1 with a 2.54 ERA and 104 strikeouts in 88.2 innings of work in 2024 and a 3.49 ERA with 111 strikeouts in 77.1 innings this past season.

In the third round with the 87th overall pick, the Boston Red Sox selected right-handed pitcher Anthony Eyanson from LSU. Eyanson spent two years at UC San Diego and was a 2024 All-Big West Second Team awardee, going 6-2 with a 3.07 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 82.0 innings, before transferring to LSU.
