SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- No. 1 seed UC Santa Barbara swept No. 2 seed UC Irvine 4-0 in the final match of the 2026 Big West Men's Tennis Championship to win the title, Saturday at Barnes Tennis Center.
The Gauchos earn The Big West’s automatic qualifier into the NCAA Championship. UCSB's opponent will be announced with the NCAA Men's Tennis Selection Show on Monday, April 27 at 1 p.m. PT on NCAA.com It is the Gauchos' 15th Big West Championship title in program history, and first since 2023.
UC Santa Barbara secured the victory by winning the doubles point 2-0 and showcased strong performances in singles pairings three, four, and six, contributing to its decisive win.
In doubles action,
Conrad Brown and
Dominique Rolland (UCSB) overcame
Tal Goodman and
Hiroki Sakagawa (UCI), 6-1, in No. 2 doubles.
Miguel Avendano and
Lucca Liu (UCSB) defeated
Max Fardanesh and
Rohan Sachdev (UCI) with a score of 6-2 at the top of the lineup, to secure the doubles point for the Gauchos.
In singles play, Avendano (UCSB) earned a straight-set victory over
Sohrob Amiryavari (UCI) with scores of 6-1, 6-2 on the No. 4 court.
Lorenzo Brunkow (UCSB) defeated
Greg Gamal (UCI), finishing 6-3, 6-2 in No. 6 singles.
Diogo Morais (UCSB) won in straight sets against Goodman (UCI), 6-3, 6-1 on court No. 3 for the clinch.
