Brad Thomas was the runner-up in the decathlon to highlight The Big West’s performance at the second day of the 2025 NCAA Track & Field Championships, Wednesday at Oregon’s Hayward Field.
Thomas finished the event with a total of 7888 points and will earn All-America First Team status by finishing in the top eight. Long Beach State’s
Ryan Gregory was 14th with 7634 points and will earn All-America Second Team honors by virtue of finishing in ninth - 16th place.
Both athletes maintained their day one positions as Thomas came into the day in second with 4192 points and Greogry in 14th with 3920 points.
Thomas scored 3696 points on the day with 773 points (15.65, 18th) in the 110m hurdles, 723 points (42.86m, 5th) in the discus throw, 620 points (4.01m, 19th) in the pole vault, 790 points (63.47m, 2nd) in the javelin and 790 points (4:23.24, 3rd) in the 1500m.
Thomas fell off the leaderboard down to 11th place with two events to go, but picked up 790 points in each of the last two events to move back into second place to end the day.
Gregory compiled 3714 points in five events with 846 points (15.03, 13th) in the 110m hurdles, 662 points (39.85m, 13th) in the discus, 763 points (4.51m, 12th) in the pole vault, 666 points (55.22m, 6th) in the javelin and 777 points (4:25.05, 4th) in the 1500m.
