Big West Golfer of the Year Charlie Forster and Long Beach State teammate Alejandro de Castro Piera have been named NCAA Division I PING All-West Region honorees, announced by the GCAA today.
Student-athletes across six regions and representing 82 schools earned all-region honors in 2025 with the Beach tandem two of the 26 selections in the west. This marks the fourth time that a pair of Big West student-athletes have earned regional distinction and the first that two teammates have been on the listings.
Forster, a native of Winchester, England, led Long Beach State to a seventh NCAA Regional appearance and a Top 25 national ranking, a new high in the modern era for the program as well as a third-straight Big West Championship title.
The senior earned seven Top 10 finishes and two individual events wins in 2024-25, with the team landing atop the leaderboard three times. Forster currently sits in 32nd in the national rankings after averaging 70.0 strokes per round. Along with carding victorious efforts at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational and Wyoming Cowboy Classic, Forster finished fourth The Big West Championship after a 26-spot leap up the leaderboard with a final-round 9-under 63. At the NCAA Urbana Regional to close the year, a capping round of 2-under 69 put Forster in a tie for eighth at 5-under 208.
In a second year at LBSU, junior de Castro Piera recorded five Top 10 showings averaging 70.7 strokes per round. de Castro Piera finished in runner-up position to Forster at both the Lake Las Vegas Invitational and Wyoming Cowboy Classic this spring. The native of Sant Esteve Sesrovires, Spain, played one season at Anderson before transferring to the Beach. This is a second All-Region selection for de Castro Piera, honored as a Division II All-Southeast Region player in 2022-23.
