Hawai'i Senior Karol Ostrowski Heading Back to NCAA Championships

Karol Ostrowski of Hawai’i was selected to the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship field, taking to the pool in the 50 yard freestyle in back-to-back seasons. 

Hailing from Strachoin, Poland, Ostrowski was decorated on the top podium step five times at The Big West Championships in February. Each first-place finish included in Big West record time. 

Opening the week in Houston, Ostrowski was the first leg of the record-setting 200 medley relay squad who closed in 1:23.64 to take gold. Ostrowski finished the leg in 21.00 on Feb. 12. The following day, he added a top finish in the 50 yard freestyle as well as a record-breaking victory in the 200 freestyle relay. As the opening leg in the relay, Ostrowski touched the wall in 19.14 which stands as a new benchmark in the 50 free.  

On Championships Day 4, Ostrowski took home top hardware in the 100 yard freestyle, setting the event record with a mark of 42.50. The Rainbow Warrior swimmers with Ostrowski in the lead leg broke another record in the 400 freestyle relay at 2:52.26 to cap out the Championships. Ostrowski also reached the podium in the 800 freestyle relay (2nd), 100 backstroke (3rd) and 100 freestyle (3rd) to leave the CRWC Natatorium highly decorated and help the ’Bows to a second-place team finish. 

Ostrowski enters the NCAA field with the 27th-fastest time in the 50 free this season. This marks his second national postseason at the NCAA Division I level 

The men's championships will be held at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way, Wash., from March 26- 29. Championships will be streamed on ESPN+. Ostrowski’s event will be contested on Thursday, March 27.
