UH Tandem of Ramirez Tamayo and Ostrowski Represent Big West Well Alongside GCU’s Dooling

The Big West saw strong representation at the NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships, with Hawai‘i 's Karol Ostrowski, Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo , and GCU's Carter Dooling standouts carrying their conference success onto the national stage.

Hawai‘i swimmer Karol Ostrowski made the seniors' third consecutive NCAA appearance, competing in the 100 backstroke, and posted a time of 45.46 to finish 9th overall. That mark qualified as a new program record for the Rainbow Warriors. The 2026 Big West Men’s Swimmer of the Year qualified with automatic cuts in the 50 free (19.13), 100 free (42.41), and 100 back (46.16), after a dominant conference showing. 

GCU senior swimmer Carter Dooling competed in both breaststroke events, posting a 53.00 in the 100 breaststroke during competition yesterday before clocking 1:55.18 in the 200-yard breaststroke today. Dooling earned his NCAA berth with a title-winning, lifetime-best 1:54.56 at the Big West Championships, securing an automatic qualifying spot under the conference’s championship criteria.

Hawai‘i sophomore diver Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo represented the league in the 1-meter event, scoring 296.10 to place 43rd overall. The Big West champion in both the 1-meter (360.70) and 3-meter (393.45) events advanced to NCAAs after a record-setting performance at the conference meet, later adding Zone E marks of 668.35 (1M) and 669.80 (3M) to qualify.
