The Big West proudly announces that four men student-athletes have earned spots in the 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship field following standout performances at The 2026 Big West Swimming & Diving Championships.

The NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships Subcommittee announced today the swimmers who qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships, set for March 26–29 at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta. The meet will be hosted by Georgia Tech. Swimmers qualified for the championships either by winning their conference championship in an event with an established minimum time or by meeting the established minimum time standard in their entered events. The invited divers earn their automatic spot at zone meets in the weeks prior. In total, the meet has a limit of 270 athletes divided across 18 swimming events and three diving events.

Carter Dooling, Grand Canyon – 200 Breaststroke (1:54.56 AQ)
GCU’s Carter Dooling secured an NCAA berth in the 200-yard breaststroke with an automatic qualifying time of 1:54.56 at the conference championships. The standout performance highlighted a strong meet for the Lopes’ breaststroke specialist, who also contributed to GCU’s relay success, including a runner-up finish in the 200 medley relay (1:25.16).

Karol Ostrowski, Hawai‘i – 50 Freestyle (19.13 AQ); 100 Freestyle (42.41 AQ); 100 Backstroke (46.16 AQ)
Representing league champion Hawai’i Karol Ostrowski delivered one of the most dominant performances of the championship meet. The Big West Men’s Swimmer of the Year recorded automatic qualifying standards in three individual events, the 50 freestyle (19.13), 100 freestyle (42.41), and 100 backstroke (46.16). Ostrowski captured multiple individual conference titles and added relay golds in the 200 freestyle relay and the championship-clinching 400 freestyle relay, helping Hawai‘i secure the team title. The 100 freestyle mark also reset the Big West Championship record.

Vili Sivec, Cal State Bakersfield – 100 Butterfly (45.91 AQ); 200 Butterfly (1:42.37 AQ)
Cal State Bakersfield’s Vili Sivec punched two tickets to the NCAA Championships after recording automatic qualifying times in both butterfly events. Sivec touched in 45.91 in the 100-yard butterfly and followed with a dominant 1:42.37 in the 200-yard butterfly, securing conference titles in both races. The double-event champion showcased elite stroke efficiency and endurance throughout the meet while also adding valuable relay contributions for the Roadrunners.

Tom Thalau, Hawai‘i – 200 IM (1:43.93 AQ)
Tom Thalau of UH also secured a spot in the NCAA field with a 1:43.93 automatic qualifying swim in the 200-yard individual medley. Thalau delivered a strong all-around championship performance for the Rainbow Warriors, also contributing to Hawai‘i’s conference title-winning 400 freestyle relay squad that set a Big West Championship record with a 2:52.18 finish.

Together, the four qualifiers represent three programs, Cal State Bakersfield, GCU, and Hawai‘i, highlighting the conference’s depth across sprint, butterfly, breaststroke, and individual medley disciplines as The Big West prepares to compete on the national stage.
