With the conclusion of the 2024-25 Big West Swimming & Diving season, the conference is proud to announce this year’s major award winners.  

The Big West’s Men’s Swimmer of the Year goes to Kyle Brill of UC Santa Barbara.

Brill boasted a trio of NCAA B-cut times during The Big West Championships by posting times of 1:54:18 in the 200 Breast, 1:43.53 in the 200 IM, and 3:42.95 in the 400 IM. The senior locked up the individual crowns and re-wrote The Big West record books in both the 200 and 400 IM’s, respectively. Brill also brought home a first-place finish in the 400 Medley Relay alongside teammates, Driscoll, Wong and Sparrow.  

Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo sweeps both the Men’s Diver and Men’s Freshman Diver of the Year accolades for Hawai’i. The freshman finished atop the podium in both the men’s 1M Diving final (334.05) and Platform Diving, which accounted as UH’s fourth highest in program history at 376.90.

Brandon Blaisdell is decorated Men’s Diving Coach of the Year after aiding a Rainbow Warrior to a top finish in all three diving events at The Big West Swimming & Diving Championships.  

Cal Poly’s Sam Seybold and Adam Zdybel of Hawai’i are celebrated as the Co-Big West Freshman Swimmers of the Year, respectively.

Seybold’s top mark of the Championships was fifth (1:45.48) in the 200 Back finals while helping the Mustangs finish third (603 points) on the men’s side.

Zdybel recorded a time of 1:35.24 (split) in the 200 Free 800 FR and a third-place finish in the 200 Free Finals with a 1:36.77 time to highlight UH to a second-place finish (787 points). 

Kim Carlson claims Men’s Swimming Coach of the Year honors for Cal Poly to close out the list of major awards. As interim-head coach, Carlson produced three gold medal performances for the Mustangs in the postseason and aided CP to a third-place finish on the men’s side with 603 total points.  

The top three finishers in each event at The Big West Swimming and Diving Championships are designated as All-Conference.
