Cal Poly's Taylor Baker Opens Collegiate Career as Big West Golfer of the Month

  • 8038Cal Poly’s Taylor Baker opened her collegiate career in style to earn Big West Golfer of the Month for September. 

  • The three-tournament month was highlighted as the true freshman led the Mustangs to a second-place finish while capturing the individual title at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic Sept. 22-23.  

  • Baker set the tone with a magical first round, firing a 65 (-7) that tied the program's 18-hole record. The Sacramento, Calif., native finished the weather-shortened tournament at 138 (-6), becoming the first Mustang to win an individual title since 2022.  

  • Baker’s effort helped the team fire a program-record 272 in the first round from Fort Collins, Colo., with four Mustangs shooting under par.
