UC San Diego's Flowers, Long Beach State's Freschlin, Fune' and Denness-Lamont Win First Set of Weekly Awards

Men's Track Athlete of the Week 
Anthony Flowers, UC San Diego | Freshman • Torrance, Calif.

    UC San Diego's Anthony Flowers won the 200m at the Beach Opener to win the Men's Track Athlete of the Week honor. It is the first career weekly honor. 
  • Flowers clocked a time of 21.23 in the half-lap race. It is the second-fastest time in the event in Triton program history and currently leads NCAA Divsion I. 

  • The freshman also competed in the 100m and placed eighth with a 10.79 effort. 
  • Also Nominated: Finn Andrews (UC Santa Barbara), Nathaniel Avila (Cal State Fullerton), Alex Kalmar (Long Beach State); 

Men's Field Athlete of the Week 
Nikolaj Freschlin, Long Beach State | Senior • Coventry, Conn.

    Long Beach State's Nikolaj Freschlin was the first collegiate competitor in the javelin throw at the Beach Opener to earn the Men's Field Athlete of the Week award. It is the first career weekly honor for Freschlin. 
  • The senior recorded a toss of 66.78m/219'1".  

  • The mark ranks second in NCAA Division I and first in the West Region. 
  • Also Nominated: Eitan Goore (UC Santa Barbara), Justice Mephors (Cal State Fullerton), Javier Toro (Cal State Bakersfield), Justice Willingham (UC Irvine);

Women's Track Athlete of the Week 
Hailey Fune', Long Beach State | Senior • Chico, Calif.
  • 22178Long Beach State's Hailey Fune' finished second in the 100m hurdles at the Beach Opener to earn the Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor. It is the first career weekly honor for Fune'. 

  • The Chico, Calif. native clocked a time of 13.77 in the event. The time is currently fourth in NCAA Division I and third in the West Region. 

  • Fune' also competed in three other events at the Beach Opener, the high jump, javelin and shot put. 
  • Also Nominated: Mia Bergman (Cal State Fullerton), Maddie Conte (UC Santa Barbara), Sylvana Northrop (UC San Diego); 

Women's Field Athlete of the Week 
Rori Denness-Lamont, Long Beach State | Senior • White Rock, Canada
  • 22178Long Beach State's Rori Denness-Lamont set a new school record at the Beach Opener in the javelin to win the Women's Field Athlete of the Week award. It is Denness-Lamont's first career weekly honor. 

  • The White Rock, B.C., Canada native tossed the javelin 52.62m/172'8", a personal-best of more than seven feet. 

  • Denness-Lamont currently has the top mark in the javelin in NCAA Divsion I. 
  • Also Nominated: Tamara Aimufia (UC San Diego), Natalia Delgado (Cal State Fullerton), Deandra Tyler (UC Irvine);
