Baron Szeto Goes Back-to-Back for Golfer of the Month Honors

  • 8038Cal Poly senior Baron Szeto earned a second consecutive Big West Golfer of the Month honor after closing the fall slate with aplomb.  

  • Szeto finished in a tie for second at California’s Alister Mackenzie Invitational to open the Month of October. The Moraga, Calif., native set a new program, three-round record with an 18-under 195 at the par-71, 6,734-yard Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif. Firing off an eight-under 63 in the first round also puts Szeto in the Mustang record books with the new single-round low.  

  • Szeto carded 24 birdies during the tournament and finished five strokes back from San Jose State’s Zubair Firdaus on the individual leaderboard, helping Cal Poly to a ninth-place team finish. 

  • Closing out the fall slate at Cal Poly’s own The Preserve Golf Club Collegiate in Carmel, Calif., Szeto finished tied for 10th with a three-under 213 that included two rounds under par.  

  • Szeto is currently listed as 81st in the NCAA Division I individual rankings.
