Baron Szeto of Cal Poly Claims Season's First Golfer of the Month Honor

  • 8038After a season-opening month punctuated by an individual win, Cal Poly’s Baron Szeto has been named Big West Golfer of the Month for September. This is a first career nod for the native of Moraga, Calif. 

  • Szeto shot a 9-under 207 (69-71-67) to finish in a tie for first at Wake Forest's Lyons Links Invitational (Sept. 18-20) at Royal Dublin Golf Club from Sept. 18-20 in Ireland. Szeto prevailed on the second hole of the playoff against Maynooth University’s Ryan Griffin to take home individual medalist honors. before prevailing in playoff on the second hole.  

  • The senior made up a three-shot deficit during final round with a five-under 67, helping the Mustangs to a third-place team finish.  

  • Szeto opened the 2023-24 campaign with a Top 50 placement at Toledo's Inverness Intercollegiate, highlighted by an even-par 69 in the second round of action from the Inverness Club Sept. 9-10.
