Kash Powell, Long Beach State Men's Track Athlete of the Week Junior • Sydney, Australia

• Long Beach State junior Kash Powell won the 800 at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational to earn The Big West Track Athlete of the Week accolade. Powell is a first-time weekly honoree. 

• Powell took first place in the 800, crossing the finish line in a personal-record time of 1:47.57, just 0.05 seconds shy of the school record. It is the fastest time in the event in The Big West since 2014 and ranks first in the conference, region and nation.

Tibyasa Matovu, Cal Poly Men's Field Athlete of the Week Freshman • San Diego, Calif.

• Cal Poly freshman Tibyasa Matovu won the long jump competition at the Mark Conover Classic to claim The Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week distinction. Matovu is a first-time weekly honoree. 

• The freshman recorded a lifetime-best mark of 7.32m/24'0.25" in the long jump to win the event. The distance ranks first in The Big West, 27th in the region and 55th nationally. 

• Matovu also hit a personal-best in the triple jump with a performance of 14.15m/46'5.25" for a third-place finish.

Riley Slayton, CSU Bakersfield  Women's Track Athlete of the Week Junior • Bakersfield, Calif.

• CSU Bakersfield junior Riley Slayton won the 400 hurdles at the Mark Conover Classic to earn The Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Week award. Slayton is a first-time weekly honoree. 

• The junior stayed undefeated in the 400 hurdles in 2023 with a seasonal-best result of 1:00.49. The time ranks first in the conference, 18th in the region and 52nd in the nation. 

• Slayton also took third in the 100 hurdles with a personal-best time of 15.19, and was a member of the 4x400 relay team that finished runner-up, crossing the line in 3:59.01.

Deandra Tyler, UC Irvine Women's Field Athlete of the Week Junior • Atascadero, Calif.

• UC Irvine junior Deandra Tyler had two top-five performances at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational to win The Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Week honor. It is the second weekly honor of Tyler's career, having won it once earlier this season. 

• Tyler was the runner-up in the shot put competition with a personal-best throw of 14.99m/49'2.25". The performance ranks first in the conference, 36th in the region and 66th nationally. 

• Tyler also took fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.07m/161'0".
