CP Claims Two Track & Field Awards, CSUN & UCI Also Honored

MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
TYLER ESTEVES, CAL POLY

• Cal Poly's Tyler Esteves dashed to a win in the 100 last weekend at the Fresno State Invitational, winning Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors.

• He finished with a time of 10.55, setting a PR in the event. He also added a second-place finish in the 200 at 21.47, which was also a PR.

• Esteves now ranks second in the league in the 100 and and fourth in the 200.

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
KAYLA RICHARDSON, UC IRVINE

Graduate • Walnut, Calif. • Walnut HS

• UC Irvine's Kayla Richardson was a triple winner at the OC Dual last weekend, earning Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors.

• Richardson won the 100 (11.80), 200 (23.94) and ran a leg on the winning 4x400 relay (3:49.71) squad.

• Her 200 is a season-best, tops in the Big West and is second in UCI history. She joins former UCI great Persis William-Mensah as the only sprinters to run a sub-24 200 meter dash.

MATHIEU TSHANI, CSUN

• CSUN jumper Mathieu Tshani continued his win streak in a jumping event last week at the Matador Invitational, netting Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors.

• Tshani won the triple jump with a mark of 15.53 meters (50-11.75), a new PR.

• It marks his third triple jump win of the season and fourth straight in a jumping event overall.

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
BROOKE TJERRILD, CAL POLY

Junior • Fresno, Calif. • Clovis North HS

• Cal Poly's Brooke Tjerrild won her third straight Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Week award after another record-breaking performance in the pole vault.

• Tjerrild cleared 4.20 meters (13-9.25) in the event at the Fresno State Invitational, topping the rest of the field.

• The junior's effort again re-wrote the conference and school record for the third straight week, getting the clearance on her first effort of the competition.
