UCSB Sweeps Track Weekly Honors, CP and LBSU Claim Field Weekly Honors

MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
GARRETT REYNOLDS, UC SANTA BARBARA

• UC Santa Barbara's Garrett Reynolds claimed Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors after competing in the 5000 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

• Reynolds was the top collegiate finisher in the event, finishing eighth overall in a personal-best 13:47.03.

• The time is a new PR, broke the school record set in 2010 by almost 10 seconds and is the second-best time in the league.

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
KATIE CAMARENA, UC SANTA BARBARA

• UC Santa Barbara's Katie Camarena picked up her second Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor of the season after competing at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

• The senior finished the 1500 first among all collegians, and fifth overall, with a time of 4:13.32.

• Camarena's effort improves her conference-leading mark by over four seconds, broke the school record set in 2018 by two seconds and ranks seventh in the NCAA

MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
JASON SMITH, LONG BEACH STATE
Junior • San Bruno, Calif. • Archbishop Riordan HS

• Long Beach State jumper Jason Smith picked up two more wins last weekend at the Beach Invitational, netting Big West Field Athlete of the Week honors for his efforts.

• Smith won the long jump with a mark of 7.56 meters (24-09) and also the high jump with an effort of 2.20 meters (7-02). He also finished fifth in the 100 meters (10.87).

• The high jump equalled his personal best, while the long jump victory extended his unbeaten run in the event this season.

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
BROOKE TJERRILD, CAL POLY

Junior • Fresno, Calif. • Clovis North HS

• Cal Poly's Brooke Tjerrild broke her own conference record in the pole vault at the Bryan Clay Invitational, earning her second straight Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Week honor.

• Tjerrild cleared 13-09 on the bar, breaking her own record that she set a week prior by half an inch. The mark is 10th-best in the West Region and 22nd in the NCAA.

• The junior has now broken the conference pole vault record twice after it had previously stood for 21 years.
