UC Santa Barbara teammates Andrew Farkas and Tori Tsolis earned the final Big West track weekly awards for the 2015 season.
Farkas (La Jolla, Calif./La Jolla HS) notched Big West Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honors as he slid into the UC Santa Barbara all-time top-10 list for his performance in the 800-meters. Farkas ran 1:50.96 at the Occidental Invitational, a mark that puts him at No. 10 on the UCSB 800m list. The effort also moved him to No. 6 on the Big West list for the 2015 season.
Tsolis (San Jose, Calif./Presentation HS) also performed well in a middle distance event to claim Big West Women’s Track Athlete of the Week accolades. She placed second in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:21.95 at the Occidental Invitational. The performance nearly broke Lauren Christman’s school record of 4:20.90, set back in 2005. Tsolis climbed from No. 5 to No. 2 in the Gauchos record book, and she now is ranked No. 38 in the NCAA West Region.
