Cal Poly freshman Justin De Los Santos and UC Riverside senior Brittani Ferraro notched the Big West Men’s and Women’s Golfer of the Month awards for October.
De Los Santos Places Sixth At Bill Cullum Invitational
Justin De Los Santos (Chatsworth, Calif./Chaminade HS) led Cal Poly at the Bill Cullum Invitational with a sixth place finish, earning Big West October Men’s Golfer of the Month honors.
The freshman shot a six-under-par 210 total on the 6,819-yard, par-72 course at the Wood Ranch Golf Club. He carded a final-round 71 to go along with his 70 and 69 on the first day. The 69 represented his third career round in the 60s, and the three under-par rounds for the tournament gave him 13 for his career.
De Los Santos posted a career best for 54 holes with the 210 aggregate, and now boasts four top-20 finishes.

Ferraro Wins Second Career Tournament
UC Riverside senior Brittani Ferraro (Los Angeles, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula HS) captured Big West Women’s Golfer of the Month honors for October as she turned in two top-five finishes, including her second career individual medalist performance.
Ferraro topped a field of 47 golfers with a 221 score over 54 holes to win the Santa Clara Colby Invitational. Ferraro’s effort helped the Highlanders win the eight-team tournament with a three-round score of 927, besting host Santa Clara who finished second (936).
In earning her second career win, Ferraro shot a final round 72 to move from second into the top spot. She carded rounds of 75 and 74 following the first day of action.
Ferraro then posted another strong performance at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, held at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. She fired a three-under-par 213 (70-69-74) to tie for third individually. UCR, ranked 85th in the nation heading into the tournament, beat out nine higher ranked teams by finishing fourth among 18 clubs.
Her performances helped the Highlanders rise to No. 60 in the country, the lowest ranking for the team in its history.
