Long Beach State highlighted this week's track & field honors as the 49ers swept the field awards. Cal State Northridge and UC Davis were also honored as they had athletes win track awards.

LBSU had Ben Woodruff win the Men's Field Athlete of the Week, while the Women's Field Athlete of the Week went to Randi Hicks. The Matadors had the Men's Track Athlete of the Week as Carl Horsley, while UC Davis' Caitlin Fitzgerald was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

Woodruff, a junior from Redondo Beach, Calif., won the javelin at the Steve Scott Invitational with a mark of 221-01 (67.38m). His effort is a lifetime best, leads the Big West and was his first career victory.

Hicks, a senior from Ventura, Calif., won the javelin at the prestigious Drake Relays with a season-best and Big West-high toss of 165-11 (50.58m). Hicks’ toss also moves her up the national rankings to #14.

Horsley, a freshman from Oakland, Calif., finished seventh in the 100 at the Steve Scott Invitational in 10.96, and also finished third in the 200 in 21.11. His 200 was a lifetime best and ranks second on the Matador program freshman list.

Fitzgerald, a senior from Palmdale, Calif., finished fourth in the steeple at the Payton Jordan Invitational with a time of 10:26.16. Her time broke the school record set in 2002 and ranks her second in the Big West this season.
