The 2009 edition of the weekly Big West track & field accolades saw Cal State Fullerton claim two of the four awards, while UC Davis, UC Irvine and UC Riverside also nabbed one of the final honors.
The Titans had Lauren Williams and Andrew Sullivan win the Women's Track Athlete of the Week and Co-Men's Field Athlete of the Week, respectively.
Williams, a sophomore from Chino Hills, Calif., put up two stellar times in both events she ran at the Oxy Invitational. She put up a 13.54 in the 100 hurdles and a 24.64 in the 200-meter dash. Williams set a personal and school record in the 100 hurdles, in addition to the mark being tops in the Big West and sixth in the West Region. Her 200 time also set a new PR by .31 seconds.
Sullivan, sophomore from San Diego, Calif., finished in third place at the Oxy Invitational in the pole vault after recording a height of 16-6.75. It was the second consecutive week that he put up a regional qualifying mark.
Colin Hacker of UC Irvine came away with the Men's Track Athlete of the Week, his first honor of the season. Hacker, a junior from Lompoc, Calif., recorded a time of 3:47.70 in the 1500 during the Oxy Invitational. The time qualified him for the NCAA Regional meet and was the fifth-fast time in a field of 58 runners.
Jamie Feaster of UC Davis took home his first career honor as he was named Co-Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. Feaster, a senior from Vacaville, Calif., finished third in the pole vault at the Sacramento State Open with an effort of 16-6.75. The mark is an NCAA Regional qualifier, ranks him in a tie for third in the conference and moved him into a tie for fourth in Titan history in the event.
Allison Wilder took home the final award as she was named the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Wilder, a junior from Covina, Calif., jumped 19-1.50 in the long jump and 40-4.75 in the triple jump at the Oxy Invitational. She qualified for the Big West Championships in the long jump after placing third, and tops among the attached competitors in her first go-round in the event this season. Wilder also took home first place honors in the triple jump.
