The conference track & field docket is in full steam this weekend as all eight schools are in competition at meets local to their respective areas. The highlight of the upcoming schedule is the Big West Challenge Cup, an event which serves as a precursor to the conference championships with its Big West-only field.

The Challenge Cup will be hosted by Cal State Fullerton this season after being hosted by UC Irvine a year ago. The conference teams joining the Titans fo the one-day meet will be Long Beach State, UCI and UC Santa Barbara. A year ago at Anteater Stadium, Long Beach State swept the team titles in dominating fashion, winning the women’s title by 51 points over CSF and the men’s crown by 78 over UC Irvine.

Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge and UC Riverside will see each other in Westwood over the weekend as the trio will be in competition at the Jackie Joyner Kersee/Rafer Johnson Invitational hosted by UCLA. The annual meet attracts some of the top collegiate and professional athletes in the country to Drake Stadium. The namesakes of the meet, Jackie Joyner Kersee and Rafer Johnson, will be honored at a ceremony on Saturday during the invitational section of the meet.
