Cal State Fullerton senior Jordan Horn garnered Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors after setting a school record at the Oregon Invitational last weekend.

Horn (Alta Loma, Calif.) won the 10,000-meter run after finishing the race in 29:02.57, besting the second place finisher by one second and breaking the nine-y'ar old Titan record of 30:43.77. His time is the 20th-best mark nationally, fifth in the west region and tops in the Big West. The women’s end of the Track Athlete of the Week award went to UC Riverside sophomore Uchechi Egeonuigwe (La Marida, Calif.) after her performance at the UC San Diego Inviational. Egeonuigwe competed in the 400-meter hurdles and set a school record with a time of 60:42. The time is the best in the Big West this season and qualifies her for NCAA Regionals.

Long Beach State's Ezra Kwong (Novato, Calif.) was the recipient of the Men's Field Athlete of the Week, his second honor this season, after competing at the Triton Inviational. Kwong finished with personal bests in the discus (174-10) and shot put (57-7.75) with both marks exceeding NCAA Regional qualifying standards. The final award winner gave UC Riverside a sweep of the women's honors as Allison Wilder (Covina, Calif.) took home the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week award. The freshman set the Highlander record in the triple jump for the sixth time this season after coming up with a mark of 12.25 meters at the Tommy (Tiny) Lister Invitational in Los Angeles. She was the top collegiate finisher, second overall and has now finished first or second in every meet she has jumped in this season.

Final Weekend in April a Busy One for Big West Track & Field

The final weekend of competition in April is set to be a busy one for the Big West track & field squads as they'll compete in meets against solid competition in preparation for the Big West Championships.

Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State and UC Riverside kick off the week with trips to the east as the Matadors and 49ers compete in the prestigious Penn Relays in College Park, Pa., while the Highlanders will be in Des Moines, Iowa competing in the Drake Relays.

All three schools along with Cal State Fullerton will send contingents to Irvine for the Steve Scott Invitational hosted by UC Irvine. The Titans and Anteaters also have split squads as CSF has a group going to the California Collegiate Challenge in Berkley, while UCI has a squad going to Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational.

Cal Poly will also return to action this weekend as the Mustangs travel to UC Santa Barbara for a dual meet against the Gauchos.
