UC Irvine's Mike Beerer earns his second Big West Male Field Athlete of the Week honor, while Cal Poly's Willamena Cisco grabs her first track athlete of the week award, for the week ending May 7.
The La Canada, Calif., native came up just shy of a school record in the hammer throw with his effort of 215-9 to finish second at the Claremont Classic last week. Beerer improved on his previous best mark of 211-2 by over four feet. He also qualified for the NCAA Regionals earlier this season.
Cisco ran the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 13.79 at the Modesto Relays to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. Hailing from Sacramento, Calif., she current leads the Big West with her impressive mark.
No award was given to the male track athlete of female field athlete.
