Long Beach State's Chris Richardson and Kristina Price claimed the Big West Field Athlete of the Week honors for the week ending April 9, while UC Irvine's Dayne Comrie and UC Riverside's Uchechi Egeonuigwe nabbed the men's and women's track honors.

Richardson, who competed in the decathlon at the Big West Challenge, excelled in four field events and one running event. The Downey, Calif., native posted the eighth-best national mark in the long jump (25-0.75), while finishing third in the javelin (185-3) and 110m hurdles (15.12) and fourth in the high jump (6-4.75). He also recorded a personal best in the pole vault with a mark of 13-2.25.

Fellow 49er Price swept the throwing events with first place finishes in the shot put (45-2.5), discus (151-9) and hammer (152-9). All three marks qualified her for the Big West Championships, while her distance in the discus was a season-best.

Earning his third weekly honor of the season is Comrie (Saugus, Calif.). The Anteater won two events at the Big West Challenge Cup. He ran a time of 21.637 in the 200 meters to grab the top spot, while his time of 48.38 in the 400 meters also earned him first place.

As a freshman, Egeonuigwe won first place in the 400 intermediate hurdles at the UCLA/Jackie Joyner Invitational with a time of 60.45. In the process the La Mirada, Calif., native broke UC Riverside’s school record, while currently leading the Big West and ranking second in the west region.
