Idaho junior Mary Kamau earned Big West Women's Track Co-Athlete of the Week honors after posting a personal-best winning time of 2:07.11 in the 800 meters at the Oregon Invitational.

Utah State's Nielson, Cal State Northridge's Goodwin and Idaho's Kamau Land Track Athlete of the Week Honors

Utah State senior Mike Nielson (Bellevue, WA) garnered Big West Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors after a stellar performance in the 5,000 meters at the Oregon Invitational. He established a new Utah State record with a time of 13:56.76 to finish 10th overall in the race. That time also gives Nielson the second-best time in the Big West this season.

Cal State Northridge sophomore Deanna Goodwin (San Francisco, CA) and Idaho junior Mary Kamau (Kiambu, Kenya) were honored as Big West Women's Co-Track Athletes of the Week. Goodwin reeled off a couple of second place finishes in the 100 and 200 meters at the Cal-Nevada Championships in Fresno. She ran an 11.83 in the 100 meters and then set a personal-best with a mark of 23.97 in the 200 meters. The sprinter's 200 meter time is tops in the Big West this season.

Kamau broke the Idaho school record with a personal-best time of 2:07:11 in the 800 meters at the Oregon Invitational. The Vandal distance runner won the event with that time, which ranks second in the Big West and 17th in the nation this season.

Cal State Northridge's Selby and Idaho's Karrat Named Big West Field Athletes of the Week

Cal State Northridge senior Tim Selby (Lancaster, CA) nabbed Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors after breaking a 12-year old school record in the hammer throw. Selby delivered a mark of 207-10.75 to finish second at the Cal-Nevada Championships and eclipse the previous best of 205-4 set by Joe Hicks in 1993. Selby's performance also gives him the Big West's top mark in the hammer throw this season.

Idaho senior Manuela Karrat (Halle, Germany) earned Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors with a winning performance in the heptathlon at the Oregon Invitational that automatically qualified her for the NCAA Championships. She posted 5,711 points, which currently leads the nation this season and is second all-time in the Vandal record books. Karrat notched personal-bests in the shot put (43-6) and long jump (18-04.50) while finishing 691 points ahead of the second place finisher at the meet.
