Cal State Northridge junior Rashaad Allen (Oakland, Calif.) was named Big West Male Track Athlete of the Week. The Matador sprinter placed first in the 100 and 200 meter races at the Cal-Nevada Championships. Allen also anchored the 4x100 relay team that finished second. His time of 21.05 in the 200 meter was a season-best and fastest in the Big West thus far. Allen currently has the fastest conference times in the 100 (10.43) and 200 (21.05) meter events. Cal Poly senior LeBren Martin (Trotwood, Ohio) was named Big West Female Track Athlete of the Week. The Mustang sprinter took first place in the 400 meter hurdle race at the Cal-Nevada Championships. Martin's time of 58.28 qualified her for the NCAA Regionals and is the fastest in the 400 meter hurdles among Big West athletes this season.
Cal Poly sophomore Kaylene Wagner (Goleta, Calif.) was named Big West Female Field Athlete of the Week. The Mustang leaper cleared a season-high 6-02.25 height in the high jump event at the Cal-Nevada Championships. Her height tied her with teammate Sharon Day for best in the conference this season. Cal State Fullerton senior Joe Thomas (Buena Park, Calif.) was named Big West Male Field Athlete of the Week after placing second in the triple jump event at the Cal-Nevada Championships. Thomas' distance of 50-08.75 ranks No. 1 in the Big West this season and fourth in the West Region.
