UCSB's White and Washington Named Track Athletes of the Week
Long Beach State's Sampson and Temidara Named Field Athletes of the Week

UC Santa Barbara senior Chris White (Montara, Calif.) was named Big West Male Track Athlete of the Week. The Gaucho distance runner took first place in the 3,000 meter race at the Big West Challenge Cup. White's time of 8:21.82 was a career high and ranks third all-time in UCSB history.

UC Santa Barbara senior Jasmine Washington (San Francisco, Calif.) was named Big West Female Track Athlete of the Week. The Gaucho sprinter broke, equaled and help set team records at the Big West Challenge Cup. Washington set a new school record in the 200 meters with a 24.22 time. Her time of 53.58 in the 400 meter race equaled her own school record. Washington also ran second leg in the 4x100 meter team that established a new program record with a 46.97 time.

Long Beach State's Sampson and Temidara Named Field Athletes of the Week

Long Beach State senior Stephanie Sampson (Yorba Linda, Calif.) was named Big West Female Field Athlete of the Week. The 49er field athlete established a new conference record with a 190-50.00 distance in the hammer throw at the Big West Challenge Cup. Her mark ranks fifth in the region and 22nd in the nation this season. Sampson also had a season-high distance in the shot put (43-02.50) and a career-high throw in the discus (155-00.00).

Long Beach State junior John Temidara (Santa Fe Springs, Calif.) was named Big West Male Field Athlete of the Week after clearing 7-02.25 in the high jump event at the Big West Challenge Cup. Temidara's mark was a career high and ranks third all-time in Long Beach State history. His height cleared also ranks eighth in the nation this season and third in the West Region.
